Gabby's Cookie Dough Cookies

On Monday, Gabby had to have a cavity filled and in trying to be brave and save her mother money, she decided to for-go using the "happy gas". She did an awesome job, but didn't want to go back to school. Being a true mom, I bribed her with cookies! I asked her what kind I should make, she replied "Cookie Dough Cookies". I searched the internet high and low, only to find suggestions of dry ice, and liquid nitrogen. I figured it couldn't be that difficult. So I took 2 different cookie recipes and combined them to create this sinful treat!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip cookie with Cookie Dough (aka: Cookie Dough Cookies)

*Yeild: 4 dozen cookies, with 2 dozen cookie dough balls leftover. If you don't want the extra cookie dough left over just make 1 1/2 times the chocolate chocolate chip cookie part. As for me, I don't mind having the extra left in my freezer to eat!!! :)

First you need to mix up a batch of cookie dough
  • 2-½ cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1-½ teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Butter Or Margarine, Room Temperature
  • ¾ cups Sugar
  • ¾ cups Packed Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • up to ⅓ cup water
  • 1 cup Mini Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips

Beat butter and sugars and in a large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add vanilla. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt and mix on low speed (or by hand) until incorporated. Slowly add water until dough like consistency. Stir in chocolate chips.

Using a small cookie scoop, scoop dough onto wax paper covered cookie sheet. You can place them close together, because you are going to stick these in the freezer to chill while you mix up the cookies.

Now to mix up the Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies. I used this recipe from food network.

  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 sticks butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

In a bowl stir together flour, salt, and baking soda. In another large bowl stir together butter, both sugars, eggs, vanilla and cocoa. Gradually stir flour mixture into butter mixture and mix until combined. Stir chocolate chips.

Using a medium sized cookie scoop drop dough onto cookie sheet.

Bake for 9 minutes. Then grab your sheet of cookie dough out of the freezer, and place one in the middle of each cookie. Then bake for another 1 1/2 - 2 minutes. Now you can pat down the scoop of cookie dough if you would like.

I recommend keeping the pan of cookie dough in the freezer until you need it and putting it back after using it. To keep the dough cold. Let the cookies cool on the pan for a couple of minutes then transfer them to either paper towels or a cooling rack.

Somethings I have discovered a few days after making them. When storing them, they might fair better if wax paper is placed between them. Also folding them in half after they come off the pan to make a sandwich is also a good way to make them. It traps all that gooey cookie dough inside!!! Yummy!!!

ENJOY!!!!!!
